Description by MPR Design Group
This new addition places a lightweight, metal-clad structure on the roof of an existing Art Deco building. The pristine white metallic volume is clearly delineated from the old building. Generous, open-plan living spaces flow onto expansive external entertaining areas. Skylights, fire windows, low-level glass lourves and full-height glazing in central areas work around restrictive fire regulations to create a light-filled interior. An external horizontal blade forms a daybed and creates a continuous floating joinery element.
